Catherine Wilcox-Titus (Visual and Performing Arts) will have her essay “Napoleon and Lafayette in the Print Culture” included in a collection of essays titled With a French Accent: American Lithography to 1860 to be published by the American Antiquarian Society. It was edited by Georgia Barnhill, Andrew W. Mellon Curator of Graphic Art at the American Antiquarian Society.

Her essay examines how the production and distribution of print images of Napoleon and Lafayette reflected an expanded demand for affordable art and also helped grow the audience for fine art. Research was conducted at the American Antiquarian Society and based on the print holdings at the Society.

The expected publication date is March 2012.
